This week our kids’ lunchbox officially gave up.
The closing clip snapped after being dropped one too many times on the kitchen floor. Between backpacks, car rides, and the daily school shuffle, I guess it had a good run.
With a few months of school left, we needed something quick, durable, and easy for the kids to use, so we picked up two things that are already making mornings easier.
The Bento Box We’re Using Now
We grabbed a bento-style lunch box
because it keeps everything separated without needing a bunch of containers.
It’s great for packing things like:
- sandwiches
- fruit
- crackers
- veggies
- little treats
Everything stays in its own spot, which makes lunch more fun for the kids and faster to pack for parents.

The Lunch Bag That Keeps Everything Cold
To go with the bento box, we also grabbed a PackIt lunch bag.
What I love about it is that the bag itself has built-in cooling, so you don’t have to worry about juggling extra ice packs.
It’s simple to use:
- Fold the bag and keep it in the freezer overnight
- Pack lunch in the morning
- Everything stays cold until lunchtime

Finishing the School Year Strong
If your kids’ lunch gear is starting to show its age like ours was, this combo has been working really well so far.
Simple. Durable. Easy for busy mornings.
And hopefully this one survives the rest of the school year.
